Regularization of Sindh Katchi Abadis discussed
KARACHI: The regularization of Katchi Abadis in Sindh came under detail consideration at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah here on Saturday.
The Chief Minister directed that katchi abadis, which were declared as such before 1985, should be regularized and be transferred to Katchi Abadis department for start of development works there.
He pointed out that President Asif Ali Zardari is fully focusing on this matter and has directed that old Katchi Abadis of Karachi and Hyderabad be regularized expeditiously and provided with civic facilities.
He asked the Secretary and concerned officers of Katchi Abadis and Revenue departments to immediately hold meetings and take necessary decision in this regard while final decision will be taken in a meeting by Ministers of two departments and issue NOC.
The Chief Minister said this issue will be finalised within 3 days.
The President, he said, has further directed that a multi-storey building be constructed in Lyari to settle poor families of Lyari while provision of 1000 acres of land outside Lyari would be examined to rehabilitate the people of Lyari.
Earlier Provincial Minister Katchi Abadis Mohammed Rafiq Engineer and Revenue Minister Jam Mehtab Daher informed the Chief Minister that all related matters will be expeditiously finalised and regularization work completed.
Besides concerned Ministers, the meeting was attended by Senior Member Board of Revenue Ghulam Ali Pasha, ACS (Dev) Munawar Opel, Secretaries Finance and Katchi Abadis, DG Katchi Abadis, Member Land Utilization and Secretary Board of Revenue.
